My Psychedelic Furs CDs #13

The Best Of The Psychedelic Furs (2021) (Edsel EDSL0085) (Double CD)

This is the newest Psychedelic Furs compilation which came out this year. Has two discs and has songs from seven of The Furs' albums, including Made Of Rain, their most recent album, and Book Of Days. The thing that surprises me is there aren't any songs from World Outside at all. You'd think the compilation would have "Until She Comes" on it, especially since it's one of the most beloved songs by The Psychedelic Furs.

Here Came The Psychedelic Furs: B-Sides & Lost Grooves (1994) (Sony Music)

In 1994 Columbia released this compilation that's filled with b-sides, remixes, and live songs. I have to admit I wasn't sure about getting this one because I'm not really a fan of dance mixes but recently I decided to get it and I must say the remixes are really good, especially the ones for "Heartbreak Beat" and "Shock". I was also excited of hearing some b-sides that I've never listened to before, such as "Another Edge", "Badman", "Birdland", and "New Dream".

Apparently when B-Sides & Lost Grooves came out The Psychedelic Furs weren't happy with the compilation, with Richard Butler saying, "Those songs weren't lost. They were thrown away. It was like they went through our garbage for it."

Track Listing:

1. Aeroplane (Dance Mix)
2. Another Edge
3. Badman
4. Birdland
5. Goodbye (Dance Mix)
6. I Don't Want To Be Your Shadow
7. Heartbeat (7" Remix Version)
8. Mack The Knife
9. New Dream
10. Here Come Cowboys (12" Remix-Edit Version)
11. Heartbreak Beat (Extended Mix)
12. Angels Don't Cry (7" Remix Version)
13. Shock (Shep Pettibone Mix)
14. President Gas (Live)
15. No Easy Street (Live)

Notes:

Track 1: B-side of "Love My Way" (UK 12" single)
2: B-side of "The Ghost In You"
3: B-side of the USA 12" promo single for "Should God Forget"
4: B-side of "All That Money Wants"
5: B-side of "Danger" (UK 12" single)
6: B-side of "Danger"
7: B-side of "The Ghost In You" (USA 7" single)
8: B-side of "Pretty In Pink" (1981 version)
9: B-side of "Heartbreak Beat"
10: B-side of the USA 12" promo single for "Here Come Cowboys"
11: A-side of the USA 12" single for "Heartbreak Beat"
12: A-side of the USA 7" single for "Angels Don't Cry"
13: A-side of the USA 12" single for "Shock"
14: Originally aired on the radio program The King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1983 and later appeared as a b-side on the USA 7" single of "Run And Run" that same year.
15: B-side of "All That Money Wants"

Thinking of John Ashton

Today when I looked at The Psychedelic Furs' Twitter they posted a link and wrote "For John." I clicked on the link and it was a GoFundMe page for John Ashton. It was created by Gail Ann Dorsey (former David Bowie bassist and a close friend of John's) to help him and his family, because Gail wrote that sadly a couple months ago John was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer, and it had spread to his lymph nodes. I was shocked and saddened hearing the news and my thoughts and prayers go out to him. We all love you John Ashton and I hope you will get all the help and recovery you need.

If you would like to help John Ashton and his family here is the link to the GoFundMe page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/rn6gr6-xxxxx?utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link_all&utm_source=customer

We Love You Advert

Here's an advertisement I found for The Psychedelic Furs' debut single "We Love You" from 1979. I like the way the ad spells the word "first".

Furs on the Radio

I don't really listen to the radio but whenever I do, it seems that the local stations here in Oregon never play The Psychedelic Furs. I've been wanting them to play one of The Furs' songs but it always never happens. You would think since the band is a little popular in the US the radio stations would play their songs. Well, something miraculous happened last night. I was riding in the car with my mom listening to the radio and we went through the stations, trying to find a song we like. As my mom went on some station a song started playing and I instantly recognized it. Could it be? It is! To my absolute surprise, the station was actually playing "Pretty In Pink", the original from Talk Talk Talk! I was super ecstatic, I couldn't believe it. The radio finally played a Psychedelic Furs song! After going through that awesome experience I just have to come on here to talk about it.

"And nobody don't dance
On the edge of the dark
We've got the radio on"
