Tour Update
This morning The Psychedelic Furs posted a statement on their social media and they announced that the Spring and Summer shows are sadly being cancelled, due to a serious medical issue in the band. I am worried and I pray that things will be all right with The Furs. Hope they are okay and sending all my love to them. <3
Update: Just now I saw an article from Variety about the cancellations and it said that according to a representative of The Furs, one of the band members had to go through an urgent surgery. If that is the case, I hope the surgery went well and I wish one of them a full recovery. <3

More Summer Dates
Just now The Psychedelic Furs announced more tour dates in the US from July to September and the special guest will be Living Colour. Unfortunately Portland is not included on this second part of the tour but since The Furs are going to the Darker Waves Festival in California this November, I'm hoping they will return to Portland in the Fall. I want to see them again so much.
Recently I saw that Gary Numan will be in Portland at the Revolution Hall on November 20th and I would love to see Gary again, but first I'm waiting to find out if there will be any news of The Psychedelic Furs coming back to Portland this Autumn. It would be great to see both The Furs and Gary Numan.

Top 7 Psychedelic Furs Concerts
It's been two years since I wrote a list of my top 5 Psychedelic Furs concerts and I feel like I need to update my list after attending two more concerts in 2024 and 2025. With The Furs going to start the 2026 tour this month I want to relive the memories of those concerts I've been to. I'm missing them a lot right now and I'm hoping with all my heart they will return to Portland this year.
As stated before on the old list (which has now been deleted), all of these concerts took place in Oregon so I won't bother mentioning it on every ranking, just only the cities. And each ranking will be highlighted in purple and if you click on it, it will take you to my blog about that particular concert if you would like to read it.
So let's begin, here are my top 7 favorite Psychedelic Furs concerts!
This concert was great but the only downside was being in the balcony instead of the front row. However, the most memorable part of that night was a moment that occurred after the show, and even after all these years I still can't believe that happened.
This was the first concert I ever went to and seeing The Furs for the first time was so exciting. I wish I can go back and experience it all over again. It was total magic. It's hard to believe this concert is from 11 years ago. What happened to the time? It flew by so quickly.
This concert... I both have happy and sad feelings when I think about this show. The happy part is this was my first Psychedelic Furs concert in four years and it felt so good to see them again. It was also my first time seeing Zachary Alford on the drums after former drummer Paul Garisto left, and getting to hear some of the songs from Made Of Rain was incredible. The sad part is it was my last time seeing saxophonist Mars Williams perform with The Furs. What happened after was hard. Unfortunately there's a part in my blog for this concert that didn't age well and it just breaks my heart....
This was a great concert and it was nice to be in the front row again after sitting in the balcony at the Revolution Hall two years prior. My favorite moment about that night was when guitarist Rich Good recognized me during the show. <3
So with this and the last two concerts they are my absolute favorites because there were so many wonderful memories and moments. This concert was amazing and I got to see Rich Good; believe it or not, it was my first time meeting him in seven years. With the 2019 and 2023 concerts my brother and I left right away when those shows ended because he had to go to work in the morning, which was understandable, but I'm one of those people who love to stay a little bit at the venue after concerts so I couldn't help feeling regretful when I think about not being able to visit Rich at those two shows. But seeing him again after all those years was really great. <3
This concert was fantastic and the setlist for this show is my favorite out of all the concerts I attended. The night was so special to me for many reasons and I will never forget it. Whenever I think about that night it always brings a smile to my face. <3
Not only is this my favorite Psychedelic Furs concert but it is my favorite concert ever of all time. There was no barrier so I was up against the stage and it was amazing seeing the band up close and personal. Also I met Rich Good for the very first time and there were other wonderful moments that happened during the concert as well.
About the tour coming up I can't wait to see what the setlist will be like and I wonder if Richard Fortus or Peter DiStefano will join The Psychedelic Furs again. I wish the band safe travels and I hope they will have fun touring!
This blog is lovingly dedicated to Mars Williams. Thank you for the memories and the music. <3

My Psychedelic Furs Vinyl #10
Shock (1987) (Columbia 38 07224) (USA 7" single)
The b-side of "Shock" is a live version of "President Gas" which was from The Psychedelic Furs' concert at The Ritz in New York City in 1982 and was first broadcasted on the radio program The King Biscuit Flower Hour. It later appeared as a b-side on the "Run And Run" single in 1983.

My Psychedelic Furs Vinyl #9
Dumb Waiters (1981) (CBS A1166) (UK 7" single; playable picture sleeve)
The track on the playable sleeve is basically a sneak peek of the upcoming (at the time) Talk Talk Talk album. It opens up with Richard Butler saying, "This is a Psychedelic Furs commercial. Buy Talk Talk Talk", and plays short samples of three songs, "Into You Like A Train", "I Wanna Sleep With You", and "Pretty In Pink". The "commercial" is a hidden bonus track on the 2002 remaster of Talk Talk Talk.

Richard Butler: 20th Anniversary
Happy 20th anniversary to Richard Butler's debut solo album, released on this day in 2006. It was produced by Jon Carin, who played all of the instruments on the album and worked with The Psychedelic Furs before, on Midnight To Midnight as the keyboardist.
During the 1980s Richard Butler had talked of wanting to do a solo album and after when The Psychedelic Furs took a hiatus in the 1990s, he started to write songs for a solo album but they eventually evolved into being songs for Richard's new band at the time, Love Spit Love. Then in the mid-2000s he finally started working on what would become Richard Butler.
The music on Richard Butler is more softer than The Psychedelic Furs and Love Spit Love, and the album is probably the most personal one Richard Butler ever made. Around that time Richard had to deal with the breakup of his first marriage, and in 2002 his father passed away. Jon Carin was also going through the exact same situations as Richard and they completely influenced the songs. Richard Butler wrote the lyrics while Jon composed the music, and Psychedelic Furs bassist (and Richard's brother) Tim Butler got two co-writing credits on the songs "Broken Aeroplanes" and "Last Monkey".
I hadn't listened to Richard Butler for a long time and when I did recently, I forgot how good it was. The music is filled with beauty and emotion, and I remember my brother saying he liked the solo album more than The Psychedelic Furs' music. My favorite song on Richard Butler is "Milk" because it is so beautiful and it always leaves me in tears. Other favorites are "Satellites" (my brother said the drums in that song are reminiscent of David Bowie's "Five Years"), "Broken Aeroplanes", "Breathe", and "Nothing's Wrong". There's a song on the album called "California" and it's the fourth song to feature the name Caroline, with the first and second being The Psychedelic Furs' "India" and "Pretty In Pink", and the third Love Spit Love's "Sweet Thing". I had thought of something and this is my own theory, but I like to think that the Caroline in "California" is the same Caroline from "Pretty In Pink". Maybe she changed her ways for good from the latter song, settled down and married the love of her life, and on a warm Summer day is serving him a drink "tall and icy."
I really wish Richard Butler is on Spotify and other streaming services but the reason why it's not available to stream is because Koch Records no longer exists. The album doesn't deserve to be unknown and it makes me hope The Psychedelic Furs' current label Cooking Vinyl will acquire the rights and rerelease it. The only ways to listen to Richard Butler are on CD (the CDs are already starting to get rare) and YouTube, and please do check the album out if you haven't already, it is amazing.
In conclusion, happy 20th anniversary to this great album!
"Summer's gone, it only stayed a minute
All the rainbows ran
All applaud the lions of September
When the nights get long"

My Psychedelic Furs CDs #18
Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live (2001) (Columbia/Egg/Legacy 506035 2)
The first live album The Psychedelic Furs ever released, recorded at the House of Blues in Los Angeles in 2001. Has exclusive track "Alive (For Once In My Lifetime)" in both studio and live form.
Five years ago I got this album plus B-Sides & Lost Grooves from Amazon and they were CD-R copies. Unfortunately, to my disappointment, the sound quality on both of those albums was not that great and so I never listened to them again. But recently I signed up to Discogs because I wanted to see if there were people selling the real official copies of Beautiful Chaos and B-Sides & Lost Grooves, and thankfully they did so I bought them. It's so nice to finally have the real copies of those albums.

Committed to attitude over ambition, they never shrank from their mission to bring the listener 'somewhere else.' This collection of live versions, b-sides, dance (re)mixes and promo tracks showcases the band at their absolute best."
Track Listing:
1. Aeroplane (Dance Mix)
2. Another Edge

Remembering Marty Williamson
Just found out on The Psychedelic Furs' post on Facebook that Marty Williamson, who played additional guitar on Midnight To Midnight and joined The Furs on the tour for that album, sadly passed away today. We will always remember Marty's contribution to Midnight, and may he rest in peace.
Here's his profile that was featured in the tour programme for Midnight To Midnight: https://ontomorrowspages.blogspot.com/2019/02/marty-williamsons-profile.html

Plans for 2026
Since the New Year is already here, I thought of sharing a couple things I will eventually do on this blog for 2026.
The first one is that this year will be the 20th anniversary of Richard Butler's first solo album and I will write a post about it sometime in the Spring. And the second thing is that in 2025 I was originally going to post an article about Made Of Rain's fifth anniversary but I decided to postpone it. I didn't forget about it but I'm just waiting for the perfect time to publish it because I had a great idea for the blog post, and I'm not going to say what it is because I want it to be a surprise. I hope it will be published this year but I'll see what will happen in the future.
My wishes for 2026 are The Psychedelic Furs touring again and hopefully new music.
