On July 17, 2000 The Psychedelic Furs opened for The Go-Go's and The B-52's at the E-Centre (now called the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre) in Camden, New Jersey. This was during the time when The Furs got back together and started touring.

Ten Things Every American Should Know About The Psychedelic Furs

In 1981 some advert about The Psychedelic Furs was featured in a sheet for radio programmers called FM Music Quarterly. It was put out by The Furs' American label Columbia in an attempt to get the band played on US FM radio. On the ad it listed ten things about The Psychedelic Furs and the success of their first album in the United States.

Ten Things Every American Should Know About The Psychedelic Furs

1. The Furs' first album, released last Fall, is now almost 60,000 strong in the States and still sells consistently.

2. In advance of the release of the album in America, import sales were incredible with reorder forms being filled out as soon as the records arrived in the stores.

3. New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and Philadelphia as well as heavy college markets nationally, such as Austin, Madison and Ann Arbor were buzzing with sales excitement as tour dates had club audiences mesmerized.

4. In addition the band received a more than favorable press reaction from every national publication from Rolling Stone to the Village Voice to Circus to Creem to Hit Parader to High Times to US to the New York Times. [Didn't Rolling Stone give The Psychedelic Furs a rating of 2/5 though?]

5. College audiences had found the ultimate spinach. College Media Journal, a national publication, reported The Furs' LP as the #4 most played album at college radio in 1980.

6. Fur fever began to spread surprising many. Sky Daniels at the LOOP and Scott Muni, the professor of rock and roll at WNEW, were advocating the record citing the fact that listeners "repeatedly called and begged" them to play The Furs.

7. The Furs garnered several mentions as being one of the top bands of 1980 and a band to watch. Response was widespread. Various tracks were listed on Billboard's Disco Chart. Rockpool, an influential national rock club programming guide, charted The Furs' LP for three months straight with clubs increasing play each week as audiences clamored for instant replays of "We Love You" and "Pulse".

8. Talk Talk Talk, The Furs' upcoming release, was produced by British producer Steve Lillywhite most recently known for his success with Peter Gabriel, XTC, and U2.

9. The band will once again be touring. Dates are planned cross country from June 24 to July 26. Be on the lookout for a very hot live performance and watch the phones light up.

10. It is not hearsay that a club in Chicago was recently approached by a station for their copy of the new Psychedelic Furs 7" with playable picture sleeve ["Dumb Waiters"].
