Good News

Earlier today The Psychedelic Furs posted the new dates for some of the rescheduled shows which will take place this Fall, and said that more shows will be revealed soon. With The Furs posting this I take it that Tim Butler is recovering well from the surgery and I hope he will be in good shape when the tour starts.

We Are Scientists will still open for The Psychedelic Furs and since more concerts are going to be announced I'm hoping Portland will be one of them.

7/22/2026 Update: This morning The Psychedelic Furs announced a new show in Riverside, California on November 11th, and what's cool is Gary Numan will open for them on that day!

Tour Update

This morning The Psychedelic Furs posted a statement on their social media and they announced that the Spring and Summer shows are sadly being cancelled, due to a serious medical issue in the band. I am worried and I pray that things will be all right with The Furs. Hope they are okay and sending all my love to them. <3

Update: Just now I saw an article from Variety about the cancellations and it said that according to a representative of The Furs, one of the band members had to go through an urgent surgery. I find it hard to trust anything the media says, but if that is the case, I hope the surgery went well and I wish one of them a full recovery. <3

More Summer Dates

Just now The Psychedelic Furs announced more tour dates in the US from July to September and the special guest will be Living Colour. Unfortunately Portland is not included on this second part of the tour but since The Furs are going to the Darker Waves Festival in California this November, I'm hoping they will return to Portland in the Fall. I want to see them again so much.

Recently I saw that Gary Numan will be in Portland at the Revolution Hall on November 20th and I would love to see Gary again, but first I'm waiting to find out if there will be any news of The Psychedelic Furs coming back to Portland this Autumn. It would be great to see both The Furs and Gary Numan.

2026 Tour Dates

Today The Psychedelic Furs announced the dates for the first portion of the 2026 Tour in the US and the tickets will be on sale this Friday at 10 AM. It's exciting that The Furs will be out on the road again and I'm hoping they will return to Portland either this Summer or Fall. The support act will be We Are Scientists.

Plans for 2026

Since the New Year is already here, I thought of sharing a couple things I will eventually do on this blog for 2026.

The first one is that this year will be the 20th anniversary of Richard Butler's first solo album and I will write a post about it sometime in the Spring. And the second thing is that in 2025 I was originally going to post an article about Made Of Rain's fifth anniversary but I decided to postpone it. I didn't forget about it but I'm just waiting for the perfect time to publish it because I had a great idea for the blog post, and I'm not going to say what it is because I want it to be a surprise. I hope it will be published this year but I'll see what will happen in the future.

My wishes for 2026 are The Psychedelic Furs touring again and hopefully new music.

The Second North American Tour

Yesterday was the first day of The Psychedelic Furs' second North American tour. They were in British Columbia, Canada, and tonight they're going to perform in Seattle. I checked the setlist from last night and it looks like the same setlist from the Summer tour. But I'm glad to see "No-One", "My Time", and "Run And Run" still on the list. In three days I will see The Furs at the Portland show and I totally can't wait. <3

US Summer Tour Setlist

The Psychedelic Furs are still on the road for the first segment of their North American tour, and just now I went over to Setlist FM to see what songs they had played at one of the shows. "No-One" is thankfully still being played but there are other two songs that got me excited. The Furs did "My Time" and "Run And Run"! The latter used to be my number one favorite PFurs song so I really hope I will hear this and "My Time" when I go to the Portland concert. Although it will be kind of sad listening to "My Time" without Mars Williams being there...

Dublin Setlist

Over on Setlist.FM I looked at the setlist for The Psychedelic Furs' concert in Dublin, Ireland yesterday and "No-One" was played! I was happy The Furs brought the song back and I really hope it will still be on the setlist when I go see them in Portland. I also saw the photos that people took at the Belfast and Dublin concerts and I can't wait until my turn comes. <3

UK Dates

Earlier today The Psychedelic Furs once again announced more shows, and this October they will return to the United Kingdom. Happy for the British fans who are going to see The Furs, and if I'm correct, the last time the band toured in the UK was three years ago. It was during when they were able to go there after all the waiting they had to endure because of COVID, and finally got to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The special guest for the UK tour will be Anja Huwe of Xmal Deutschland.

More Happy News

Today the tickets for The Psychedelic Furs' second North American tour in September to October are on sale and I just want to happily announce that I bought mine for the Portland concert. I am now officially going to see The Psychedelic Furs for the seventh time!!

I want to mention that something incredible happened at the end of my shift at work yesterday morning. The radio in the retail I work at actually played "Pretty In Pink"! And what's cool is that it was the 86 version! The radio at my work never plays The Psychedelic Furs so it was exciting hearing them play a Furs song.

Happy News

Well, it finally happened. Today The Psychedelic Furs announced more North American shows from September to October, and on September 16th they're coming back to the Crystal Ballroom!! This makes it very special for me because I saw The Furs for the first time at that same venue 10 years ago. And now, 10 years later, it will be my seventh time seeing The Furs! Plus another great thing is that the 16th is on my weekend, so I don't have to request to get the day off at work!

I can't wait to see what the setlist will be like and I wonder if Richard Fortus will join The Furs again; I hope he does. The support act for this portion of the tour will be Gary Numan.

European Tour

Earlier today The Psychedelic Furs announced more shows and they will return to Europe in November. The Furs will perform in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Spain. To be honest I was kind of hoping for more North American dates but hopefully they will be added soon. Happy for the European fans who will get to see The Psychedelic Furs.

I want to mention that last Saturday morning when I got off from work, on the way home the radio played "Love My Way"! I was so ecstatic when I heard it because the radio never plays The Psychedelic Furs. Even though I have Spotify, hearing it on the radio is different. The last time I heard a Psychedelic Furs song on the radio was four years ago when one of the stations played "Pretty In Pink".

Summer Tour Update

Today on Facebook The Psychedelic Furs posted an announcement about the Summer Tour, and they said that The Mission are unable to go, due to one of the band members having a previously unseen medical condition which would take a length of time to recover. But The Furs said The Chameleons will join them for the tour as the new supporting act.

New Tour Dates

This June on the 22nd The Psychedelic Furs will perform at the Forever Now music festival in England and it will be their first UK show in three years. But recently I heard they announced a North American tour in the Summer. So far I don't know who the support act will be but on the July 20th concert, The Mission and The Church will be at the event. I'm looking forward to see what The Psychedelic Furs will do this year and I'm excited to check out the setlist. I wonder if Richard Fortus will join them again or if they will hire a saxophonist this time.

Unfortunately Portland is not included in the Summer tour but I'm hoping The Furs will return there in the Fall. Fingers crossed!

2/7/25 Update: Yesterday The Furs announced two more shows. Belfast, Northern Ireland on June 19, and Dublin, Ireland on June 20. If I'm correct, I think the last time The Psychedelic Furs performed at those locations was back in August of 2017.

2/11/25 Update: From what I've seen so far, it looks like The Mission will be the main supporting act. They had toured with The Psychedelic Furs before, in 1987 during the Midnight To Midnight tour.

Autumn Tour 2024

Last week The Psychedelic Furs announced new tour dates this Fall and it will be a co-headlining tour with The Jesus And Mary Chain, plus special guest Frankie Rose.

To my delight The Furs are coming back to the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon on October 30th. The last time The Furs went to Portland was back in 2019, and the last few shows they did in Oregon were in Forest Grove and Jacksonville in 2022, and Eugene in 2023. I'm happy they are returning to Portland, and I'm glad they chose a venue that I'm familiar with. I already bought the tickets and I can't believe it will be my sixth time seeing The Psychedelic Furs, which is so hard to believe.

Although what's disappointing is that my brother is unable to go with me this year. Before the tickets went on sale I texted my brother and asked him if he would like to go with me again and if his fiance would want to go too. If that happened then I would get three tickets for us. My brother replied and said that he would ask his manager at work (my brother works in retail) if he can get the day of the concert and the next day (Halloween) off, and would let me know if he got those days.

Unfortunately my brother replied again and said with that week being Halloween and his store getting ready for Christmas, he would be unable to get those days off. I'm really disappointed it didn't work out, but either my mom or dad will go with me instead. If one of them went, it would be their first time seeing The Psychedelic Furs in 37 years, which is really interesting. They saw The Furs during the Midnight To Midnight tour in 1987.

Blog Of Days: Fifth Anniversary Special [Part 2]

Photo: Matthew Reeves

This is the second and final installment of celebrating the fifth anniversary of my blog. This one is going to be very special because there is another anniversary I want to celebrate. In 2014, ten years ago, something happened that would change my life. I became a fan of The Psychedelic Furs.

Well, actually, it happened in November of that year but I want to talk about it right now because it is so important to me. I never thought I would find a band that would have an impact on my life and made me who I am today.

On one of my previous posts I wrote about how I discovered them but I will talk about it again here. Growing up my parents would play 80s music and I think the first Psychedelic Furs song I ever heard when I was a kid was "Heaven". Then, when I was about 14, I remember hearing "Love My Way" and loving it, and in my late teens to early 20s I started liking "Sister Europe" and "The Ghost In You". In the Autumn of 2014, all of a sudden, The Psychedelic Furs entered my mind and I decided to check out their other music. I bought a greatest hits album, and after two listens, I fell in love and became a fan. After when it happened I never knew what it would bring for me in the coming years, and I realized I had finally found a band that gave me a special connection.

The first Psychedelic Furs CD I listened to.

So years before I got into The Psychedelic Furs, the first band that I became obsessed with was Green Day. Nowadays I still love them and they are my second favorite band (the first being The Furs of course!). But the thing is, I got into them at the wrong time. I was 12 to 13 when American Idiot was extremely huge, and my parents wouldn't let me get that album and the previous ones. The three ways to listen to Green Day's music were the radio, watching the music videos on TV, and downloading songs that were safe to listen to. Eventually years later I was allowed to get their albums and hear the songs I wasn't able to listen to before. I thought to myself that if I was an adult during that time I think Green Day would be my main favorite band. Or not, who knows.

From my teens to early 20s there are a few other bands I got really into, like 30 Seconds To Mars, The Smiths, and Tears For Fears, but here's the thing: With Green Day and those other bands, even though I loved their music (and still do), they didn't give me that connection I mentioned. You would hear people say a certain band changed their lives but it wasn't happening to me. And then The Psychedelic Furs appeared. They are the only band that changed my life and even helped me in so many ways. Before I got into them, I felt like I was not good enough and stupid at times. And me being the youngest of three, I had always felt my older siblings were the perfect ones and I'm the messed up one. Even though it's not really true, I couldn't help feeling like that. But after I got into The Psychedelic Furs, their music made me feel better about myself and gave me so much comfort throughout the years. I honestly don't know what my life would be like if I never found them, and I can't imagine it at all. And not only did The Psychedelic Furs change my life but through their music so many special moments happened as well, which I'd never thought would ever happen to me. As of today I saw The Furs five times in concert and they are the number one band I've seen the most. And at those concerts I was lucky enough to meet guitarist Rich Good twice and was able to give The Furs a letter. They were the happiest times of my life and I will always cherish those wonderful memories.

Photo: Peter Noble

Even though I'm absolutely proud to be a fan of The Psychedelic Furs, I have to admit, as a fan in my 30s, there are days where I would question myself if I am really a true fan or not; because I feel like you have to be a true fan if you discovered The Furs during the '80s. Even when I went to those concerts or me being on the PFurs fan page on Facebook I felt like I'm the only young fan out there in the world, and I get worried there would be some older fans who look down on the younger fans such as myself. But why should I worry about it? The important thing is that I love The Psychedelic Furs and their music is timeless. It has no expiration date, and I know the band loves seeing a new generation of people discovering their music. It's the only thing that matters.

I can't believe it's been ten years now and it doesn't even feel like it was that long ago. But they were such incredible years and I will never, ever forget them. With all my heart, I want to thank The Psychedelic Furs for being a part of my life all these years, for their music, and for all the fantastic memories they have given me. I wish I can think of more words to say but I am absolutely grateful. <3

Thank you for reading part 2.

Page Updated

I would like to share an update about my blog page The Furs Talk About Their Music. I have now added quotes for Love Spit Love's and Richard Butler's solo albums and songs! Unfortunately the quotes are not a lot but I hope I will find more to add in the future.

Blog Of Days: Fifth Anniversary Special [Part 1]

This year is the fifth anniversary of Blog of Days and I want to talk about a couple things to celebrate it. The blog will be in two parts and the first topic I want to write about is how I started getting into blogging.

It happened around the mid to late 2010's and one day I encountered some blog that was about Morrissey. After checking it out it made me want to write about the stuff that I liked (mainly music). In 2017 I started a blog on WordPress and mostly talked about The Psychedelic Furs but I would occasionally talk about the other music I liked, too.

Then in February 2019 I made a Gmail account and I decided to move to Blogger. I deleted my WordPress account and created this blog, but I made it only to be about The Psychedelic Furs. I still talk about other music I liked but the posts have to still be PFurs related. The name Blog of Days is a reference to The Furs' sixth album Book Of Days, and the blog address is "On Tomorrow's Pages", a line taken from the song "Highwire Days".

Ever since starting Blog of Days there are a couple accomplishments that happened which I'm proud of. The first one is in February 2020 I was working on my blog post The Psychedelic Furs: 40 Years of Beautiful Chaos and after writing out everything I accidentally deleted the whole thing. I couldn't undo what I did because whenever you're working on a new post it saves automatically and there wasn't a way I could bring my words back. I didn't know what to do at first and I felt that if I wrote it all over again it wouldn't be as good as when I started out. So I decided to write it out again, and the amazing thing is that I actually remembered 98% of what I wrote because I have a really good memory. The second time turned out to be better than the first after all, and I finally published it. This is one of my favorite blog posts I have ever worked on and I am proud of it.

The second accomplishment is in April 2021 I published a ranking of my top 10 favorite Psychedelic Furs songs and I shared the link on my old Twitter account. A day later when I got on Twitter I noticed I got a lot of notifications and to my excitement I discovered The Psychedelic Furs' official account retweeted my tweet. I remember feeling over the moon and even cried tears of joy. Even though I don't have Twitter anymore (I deleted it after its name changed to X and I felt it wasn't the same after that) I will always never forget that moment. I'm also really fond of my concert posts and my blog page that's filled with tons of quotes from The Furs about their albums and songs. I'm kind of thinking of adding Love Spit Love and Richard Butler's solo album too but I'm not 100% sure. But I'll think about it sometime.

The hardest part about blogging is getting the writers block and being tired mentally and not having the motivation to write, especially since I'm working overnights. But once that inspiration comes (or spark as I like to call it) it is glorious, and whenever I would finish a long post I would feel total satisfaction.

I guess that pretty much covers it for part 1 and I hope you all enjoyed reading. Stay tuned for part 2!

Yesterday I saw some link that was posted on the Psychedelic Furs fan page on Facebook and The Psychedelic Furs are nominated for the Alternative Music Hall of Fame. There are many other nominees too and you can vote for your top 10 artists.
